A Day in the Life of PPS
A typical morning at PPS follows a familiar but flexible rhythm:
· 9:00 AM - 10:00 – Arrival and Supervised Choice Play
Children are welcomed in and settle with a variety of play options. They might explore sensory or tactile tables, create at the art station, dress up in dramatic play, investigate in the science corner, build with blocks or trains, or curl up in the reading nook. Teachers also weave in playful early math and phonics activities.
· 10:00–10:15 – Clean Up
Children help put toys and materials away, learning responsibility and cooperation as they prepare for the next part of the day.
10:15–10:30 – Circle Time
The class comes together for songs, stories, finger plays, calendar, and a themed lesson. This is also when the parent volunteer joins the classroom, adding another supportive adult to the group.
· 10:30–10:45 – Snack
Children enjoy a parent-provided snack, sitting together for at least 10 minutes. Snack time gives space for conversation, manners, and practicing independence.
· 10:45–11:45 – Outdoor Play
Weather permitting, children head outside for active play. They ride tricycles, dig in the sandbox, draw with chalk, chase bubbles, and enjoy ball games. Rainy days don’t always stop the fun, with proper attire, children continue to explore outdoors.
· 11:45–12:00 – Closing Circle
The class gathers one last time to reflect, share, and wrap up the day before dismissal. ·
12:00 PM – Pick-up
Every day blends structured group time with open-ended play, ensuring children grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
